The 24 x 48 Size
The ST2448ECB4 is a 4' wall table with a 4" backsplash and a 24" depth. It gives you a full prep station against a wall without the extra depth of the 30" ST3048ECB4. Atosa rates it at 460 lb on the top and 340 lb on the undershelf.
The top gives you 1,152 square inches of work surface, about 8 square feet. Before you order, measure the space: you need 48" of width, and the table comes 24" out from the wall. Check how much aisle space is left behind anyone standing at the table.
Choosing the Depth
A 24" deep table takes up the least floor space. It suits narrow kitchens, wall-side runs and spots where the aisle behind you has to stay clear. The trade-off is less room front to back for boards, pans and containers.
The 4" Backsplash
A 4" backsplash runs along the back of the top. It is made for a table that stands against a wall. Spills, crumbs and small items stop at the backsplash instead of falling into the gap behind the table, which is hard to reach and clean. It also gives you a back stop for containers and boards.
The top is polished to a satin finish and sound deadened, and the edges are turned down.
If the table will not stand against a wall, the flat top ST2448EC is the same 24 x 48 size, rated at 460 lb on the top. The ST2448ECR2 has a lower 2" rear edge instead.
Height and Clearance
The work surface is 34" high, and the overall height is 38" to the top of the backsplash. If the table goes under a wall shelf, window, pass-through or outlet, measure from the floor to the bottom of it. You need more than 38" for the table to fit.
The Undershelf
The undershelf is stainless steel and adjusts in height. Atosa lists it at 42" x 18", rated at 340 lb. Use it for bins, bowls, sheet pans and boxed product. Measure your tallest item before you set the height: a lower shelf gives more clearance, a higher shelf keeps items closer to hand.
Load Ratings
Atosa lists 460 lb on the top and 340 lb on the undershelf. Treat those as limits. Spread heavy items out and keep the heaviest near the legs.
