What the 4" Backsplash Does

The backsplash is a 4" lip that runs along the back of the top. It is made for a table that stands against a wall. Liquids, crumbs and small items stop at the backsplash instead of falling into the gap between the table and the wall. That gap is hard to reach and clean.

The backsplash also gives you a clear back stop. Containers, cutting boards and sheet pans can be pushed to the back of the table without sliding off.

If the table will stand away from a wall or be worked from both sides, a flat top is usually the better choice. The ST3060EC is the same 30 x 60 size with a flat top. It is rated slightly higher, at 520 lb on the top and 390 lb on the undershelf.

Why the 30 x 60 Size Works

At 60" wide and 30" deep, the ST3060ECB4 gives you 1,800 square inches of work surface, or 12.5 square feet. That is enough for one person to set up a full station, or for two people to work side by side along the wall. It still stands on 4 legs, so the space under the table stays open.

Measure the wall before you order. The table needs 60" of clear wall, and it comes 30" out from the wall. Check how much aisle space remains behind anyone standing at it.

Check the Height Above

The work surface is 34" high, but the backsplash brings the overall height to 38". If the table will go under a wall shelf, a window, a pass-through or an outlet, measure from the floor to the bottom of that item. You need more than 38" of clearance for the table to slide into place.

The Top

The whole top is mechanically polished to a satin finish and sound deadened, which reduces the ringing sound of tools and pans set down on bare steel. The edges are turned down, so the front edge is not a sharp cut edge.

The Undershelf

The undershelf is stainless steel, adjusts in height and measures 24" x 54" (as Atosa lists). Atosa rates it at 360 lb. The long shelf works well for rows of bins, stacked sheet pans, boxed product or small appliances you use only now and then.

Measure your tallest container before you set the shelf height. A lower shelf gives more clearance. A higher shelf puts items closer to hand.

Load Ratings

Atosa lists 480 lb on the top and 360 lb on the undershelf. Spread heavy loads out and keep the heaviest items near the legs. For heavy countertop cooking equipment, use an equipment stand. The SE3060ECR2 is a 60-1/4" wide stand that Atosa rates at 900 lb on top.

Legs, Feet and Leveling

Four 1-5/8" stainless steel tubular legs support the table, with 1" adjustable bullet feet for leveling on uneven floors. A stainless steel hat channel runs under the top for support. Against a wall, level the table so the backsplash sits evenly along the wall.

Compare Nearby Sizes

The Mixrite 30" deep work tables with a 4" backsplash come in three widths:

Model Size (W x D) Legs Top capacity Undershelf
ST3048ECB4 48" x 30" 4 460 lb 24" x 42"
ST3060ECB4 60" x 30" 4 480 lb 24" x 54"
ST3072ECB4 72" x 30" 4 500 lb 24" x 66"

Other ways to get a 60" table:

  • ST2460ECB4: 60" x 24" with a 4" backsplash. Choose this when you need to save 6" of depth. Atosa lists 480 lb on the top.
  • ST3060EC: 60" x 30" with a flat top, for tables that do not stand against a wall.

Where It Fits

  • Wall-side prep stations: chopping, portioning and assembly with the wall behind you.
  • Bakeries: a long surface for scaling and shaping, with pans on the shelf below.
  • Catering and commissary kitchens: packing and staging along a wall.
  • Dish and receiving areas: a landing surface along a wall where spills stay on the table.

Assembly

The ST3060ECB4 ships knocked down (KD), and Atosa says it is easy to assemble. The shipping weight is 73 lb. Put it together near its final spot, then level it with the bullet feet.

Before You Order

  • Measure the wall: 60" of clear width and 30" of depth.
  • Check the height: you need more than 38" of clearance under any shelf, window or pass-through above it.
  • Check the aisle space behind the table.
  • Check what goes underneath against the 24" x 54" undershelf.
  • Choose the backsplash only if the table will stand against a wall. Otherwise look at the flat top ST3060EC.
